Just come back from the vets. He had torn not 1 but both of his cruciate ligaments. Lucky the two on the sides of his knee were ok. Thankfully also his cartilage was also ok, and just a little bit had gotten a bit rough. So he still has lots in there to keep him comfy. She said quite often by the time they operate that cartilage is just torn to shreds or completely flipped over, so he must really have been looking after his leg.

He needs to loose a bit of weight though, he currently weighs 5.9kg and needs to get down to about 5.4. He's a big cat so the vet thinks that will be a good weight for him.

He's now in a big cage in our bedroom feeling sorry for himself, but looking pleased to be home

So far so good. He wants to be in the cage at the moment. When we bring him out for medicine, he gives us a quick smooch, then walks back in and curls up again.

Today though he has risen to standing when I have walked in the room and meowed at me, so I think the next few days may get interesting. He is in our bedroom as it really is the only quiet room away from the kids.

We are away this weekend, so we have arranged for him to go back to the vets into their cattery for the weekend, and they will keep him on cage rest there and take his stitches out at the same time. They will let me know then if he needs to stay in the cage for longer or not. He's only bitten me once so far, and that was when I tried to brush the kitty litter off him that I accidentally spilt on him. Oops.

Sounds like he is doing okay Weka and being at the vet's you will not have to worry about him as he will have excellent care.
