X-Rays Wednesday

Postby Diflower » 05 Mar 2013, 10:13

We saw the vet yesterday, she's still concerned about Minnie's breathing and this 'doughy' stomach as she puts it.
The breathing has got worse since she first mentioned it, I guess it was more apparent to her as she examines her properly; also the steroid makes them pant a lot so we'd put it down to that.
She's really pleased with the blood results, which is another reason why she's concerned, she would have expected more overall improvement. But because of the blood counts, we've been able to reduce the steroids again, so she's now on half a 25mg tablet every other day, which is a quarter the dose she started on.

This is the first day she hasn't had any for almost 5 weeks. Really hope it helps with the appetite today as she can't eat after 9 tonight in case she needs sedation. They're planning on doing chest and stomach area x-rays, and probably an ultrasound scan.
I've gone a bit quiet (on the boards in general) because I'm so worried about it now. It would be so awful if having got her through such a dreadful episode, there's something worse been lying in wait (or indeed caused by the treatment).
Lots of vibes I think might be needed for tomorrow, I know you've all been through this with us.

We've just been making the most of this lovely day and been for a mini-walk - quite an epic walk as it turns out :)
Along the end to Andy's, then round the corner and over the road, past even the postbox and the little road after that
And she pulled a bit on the lead!
She's well knackered now :D

Thanks MM.
Forgot to say, we won't know the results until Thursday. Bb's had to juggle work a fair bit with all the vet appointments, so tomorrow normally we'd drop her off at 8.30, then have an appointment for the afternoon to collect her, and to see the vet and discuss the results.
But he will have to go by 1.30 at the latest, he's got to go to the other side of Southampton and would have gone earlier. So they're going to phone when we can go and collect her, which will probably be around 1, but there won't be a vet available then, so we're seeing our vet on Thursday morning at 9. It'll seem an awfully long wait, but at least means we'll be seeing her at the local surgery, the x-rays have to be done over in the next town.
