Appointment for Minnie

Postby Diflower » 28 Feb 2013, 09:32

*Warning* - reference to poo, don't read if it will make you feel ill!

Bb's had to go to a meeting at Gatwick but is hoping to be back in time for us to get to the vets.
Our vet is at the surgery in the next town today so I've spoken to them and made a provisional appointment for 5.30, fate is with us and our lovely vet is there for a long day today.
Minnie's tum had been improving but yesterday got steadily worse again, late evening she had to hurry out and it was more or less falling out of her.
This morning we were up early but it was on the carpet, the poor girl was mortified and trying to hide in the kitchen - she obviously couldn't get that far.

I'm pretty sure it's the Imuran (she's on that plus the steroids), it's a listed side effect, and she's not having anything else that could be causing it. Imuran is the drug they would stop first, steroids are powerful but this even more so, so I'm hoping she will have had enough of it and it can be stopped now. She has it in the evening so I think it's relevant that she seemed to be improving during the day then it got worse again later in the evening.

Ps In the meantime the nurse I spoke to said it's really important that Minnie must still eat, so I'm to keep feeding her the dry food and the fish & rice.

Poor Minnie - I always feel so sorry for them when they mess where they shouldn't but can't help and then they feel so bad and hide away... You just want to cuddle them and tell them it's OK but they don't understand

Good luck with the vet today

Poor little Minnie. I bet she feels completely drained, bless her.

Hope the vet stops the tablets and she improves.

Thank you all, it's a bit of a nightmare just now.
I'm sure it's the Imuran, apart from early this morning she hasn't been again, and she's had 3 small meals.

On a brighter note :) Her ears are now pink almost the the edges, and her backbone which had become very bony due to muscle wastage, , is feeling much more like normal, so the protein is actually getting were it should :)
Just hope everything else is ok, but am actually pleased we're now going to see the vet today, our next appointment wasn't till Monday otherwise.

Poor Minnie, she's having a rough time but great to hear she is regaining some weight.

I always feel so sorry for them when they have an accident that cant be helped and they stand there so shamefaced.

Hoefully there will be better news of Minnie once you see the vet.
